"The first time I listened to a wind quintet was when I was 8 years old. I loved how the harmonies and sounds mixed together and how all the instruments shone through. I also recall my first rehearsals with the Conservatory Wind Band. We were about 9 or 10 years old, and we had so much fun playing together! At that point I knew that I wanted to play music all my life. My musical inspirations are Marta Argerich and Leontyne Price. What I love the most about teaching is observing the learning process, how students begin to love and discover the musical world, and how they seek to improve from lesson to lesson. I just love to watch every step that they take to become a musician, enjoying what they do. Also, I always try to ask them about what music they listen to every day and what they like — that’s vital for me."
