Catherine Larson

Private Lessons Instructor
Piano, Voice

Catherine Larson grew up in Highland, Indiana. As a child, she was always surrounded by music and began singing when she was around seven. She started learning the piano by ear, creating songs, doing covers. Catherine earned her Bachelor of Music at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College where she was the first Musician of Promise scholarship recipient, and a member of the Chorale and Madrigals, a small, auditioned female ensemble. The Madrigals competed in the Mayo International Choral Festival in May 2019 and won 1st place. Later that year, they published a CD Lineage where she was a featured soloist and ensemble member.

Catherine pursued a higher education completing her Masters in Vocal Performance at North Park University in Chicago, IL (2022.) During her studies, she made her operatic debut as Rosimonda in Handel’s Faramondo (2021), the Soldier from the Falling and the Rising by Zach Redler and Chicago’s very own Jerre Dye (2022), and Bastienne in a improvised version of Mozart's Bastien und Bastienne (2022.) Last summer, she performed the role of Terra in the international premiere of Pluto by Michael. J Polo and covered the role of Donna Anna from Mozart’s Don Giovanni as part of the Vienna Summer Musical Festival (2022.) When she is not performing, Catherine is passionate about helping her students find their own voice as well as the same joy and appreciation through music that she has always had.

Outside of teaching at Bucktown Music, Catherine serves as a freelance performer for a variety of events such as weddings, funerals, showers, etc. She is also a choral scholar at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Forest, IL.
